APICS – These people are serious about education. Their focus has historically been on manufacturing and the supply chain and their CPIM certification is the gold standard in this area. Their latest offering is the Certified Supply Chain Professional program that covers all areas of supply chain management.
CSCMP - Founded in 1963, the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) is the preeminent association for individuals involved in supply chain management. CSCMP provides educational, career development, and networking opportunities to its over 9,000 members and to the entire profession.
CSCMP members have access to an unbelievable amount of resources and their annual conference is a “must attend” event for logistics professionals.
IWLA – IWLA is a trade association of warehouse logistics
providers that helps members run high-quality, profitable businesses. IWLA focuses on the warehouse logistics business, providing ideas and information that make it easier for member companies to succeed. The IWLA was founded in 1891 and today is the preeminent organization for 3PL’s. They offer members to participate in purchasing coops that have generated large savings. One of the major benefits is the ability to obtain legal counsel at no cost to members. This is a great benefit if you need to run a contract by an attorney.
MHIA – Material Handling Institute of America is the largest U.S. material handling & logistics association representing the leading providers of logistic solutions, and food grade warehousing. Solutions that make the supply chain work. MHIA members are material handling and logistics equipment, systems and software manufacturers; consultants; systems integrators and simulators; third party logistics providers and publisher. MHIA provides educational, business development, networking and solution sourcing opportunities for its 800 member companies and for the larger community of manufacturing, distribution, logistics and supply chain professionals.
SWA – The Southeast Warehouse Association is made up of 130 of the leading 3PL”s in the southeast United States. The association provides its members with the opportunity to interact with their peers at its annual convention in September.
WERC - Warehousing Education and Research Council is the only professional organization focused on warehouse management and its role in the supply chain. WERC is where distribution experts come together to share practical knowledge and professional expertise with the aim of improving individual and industry performance.
